The Annual CAD Manager’s Boot Camp at SOLIDWORKS World 2015

Each year since the SOLIDWORKS World hosted in Boston, SOLIDWORKS team have held the CAD Admin Boot Camp. This is an opportunity to discuss and learn more about how to manage SOLIDWORKS and the hardware it runs on. Variety of topics (that’s why it’s really 4 hours long) are covered and members of support team available to answer questions. Greg Jankowski has been leading this session since 2005, and 600 to 900 SOLIDWORKS World attendees take advantage of this pre-conference session for good reason – it’s packed with information that everyone can use.

Boot Camp-SWW15

At four hours, it’s a very long session, but its definitely worth it. There are plenty of breaks, some refreshments at the back of the room, and you’ll get a chance to meet some of the attendees before the conference really gets going. Pre-registration is recommended, but don’t worry – there will be plenty of room.

Explore a wide range of topics and issues to help you effectively deploy and manage SOLIDWORKS software. The goal of the camp is to show system administrators and IT personnel how they can use a combination of IT and CAD best practices, tools, and methodologies to reduce the total cost of ownership and maximize their investment in SOLIDWORKS software.

There’s so much more to the Boot Camp, including (but not limited to);

  • TECHNICAL RESOURCES
  • COMPUTERS AND NETWORKS
  • INSTALLATION
  • ADMINISTERING SOLIDWORKS
  • MANAGING YOUR DATA
  • TROUBLESHOOTING AND MANAGING ISSUES

Bring lots of note papers.

Intel, the world leader in silicon innovation, develops technologies, products and initiatives to continually advance how people work and live.

Intel SOLIDWORKS World

Six considerations in your workstation to maximize your throughput and achieve more in less time.

  1. CAD: choose frequency over cores & consider Intel® HD P4600 graphics
  2. Simulation & photo realistic: choose more CPU cores with slightly lower frequency
  3. Memory: At least 2X your largest model
  4. Graphics: Entry cards with 2GB of memory is all you need
  5. SSDs: Potential to increase your throughput by up to 2X
  6. ECC memory: Something you really need
